A Resting Metabolic Rate test determines the amount of energy your body uses when resting. This measurement is made by analyzing the amount of oxygen your body uses at rest on a day to day basis and the amount of carbon dioxide your body produces. Oxygen is combined with carbohydrates and fats to make energy in your body’s tissues. When carbohydrates and fats are broken down to make energy carbon dioxide is produced. The percentage of the energy created from carbohydrates and fats can be determined by measuring the carbon dioxide your body produces.
The test is very simple, you rela for up to 20 minutes while breathing into a tube connected to our Cardio Coach Metabolic Analyser. It is improtant that you do not eat a meal or take stimulant (such as coffee) in the 4 hours prior to the test.
