VO2 max Testing for Medical clearance in Aberdeen VO2 max testing for medical clearance constitutes a meticulous assessment aimed at evaluating your cardiovascular fitness, determining your suitability for specific medical needs. This advanced testing technique quantifies your peak oxygen consumption during exertion, yielding precise insights into your aerobic capability and overall cardiovascular wellness. It surpasses standard fitness evaluations by directly measuring oxygen intake, thus providing accurate reflections of your cardiovascular fitness levels. The significance of VO2 max testing in the context of medical clearance cannot be overstated, as it verifies adherence to the requisite standards for certain activities or medical...

Earlier this year we had Joanna Wilson in and we carried out some run economy testing.  Jo is an ultra-runner and was the 2022 British 100km champion and 14th at the World champs which is why we were interested to capture data to help understand some of the factors that contribute to her performances over these distances. For reference, her average pace for 100km is ~4:35/km. Which is the equivalent to doing 10 consecutive 10kms under 46-minutes.  Based on this fact alone you already know Jo is a going to exhibit attributes of an efficient runner.  But how efficient?  Let’s look...

We've been working through some of our physiology data recently and thought we'd show some examples of differences between three runners who all possess similar VO2 max values but vastly different running efficiencies. By exploring the significance of VO2 max and shedding light on the critical role of running economy, we aim to unravel the factors that separate runners as distances increase. Understanding VO2 Max: The Key to Endurance PerformanceVO2 max is a measure of an individual's maximal oxygen uptake, reflecting their body's ability to consume and utilize oxygen during intense exercise. It is a crucial metric in assessing aerobic fitness...
